Something special is building.
Last night, fellow Independent MP Zoe Daniel and I hosted Yes campaigner Thomas Mayo and veteran ABC journalist Kerry O’Brien, at an at-capacity Voice Q+A.
It was an incredible evening, with over 500 people eager to find out more about the Voice to Parliament. It’s thoroughly exciting to see so many people in our community fired up and ready to go ahead of a historic referendum.
For those who missed the event, you can watch a recording here. I highly recommend it — Thomas’ answers were some of the most succinct, persuasive explanations of the Voice I’ve ever heard.

If you are ready to volunteer for our ‘Kooyong Votes Yes’ campaign, join our more than 200 volunteers and sign up today.
I’m also excited to announce you can also now get our special ‘Kooyong Votes Yes’ merch — if you can get three other locals to sign up to my newsletter, we’ll send you our great new bumper stickers.
And if you get 10 others to sign up to my newsletter, we’ll send you a ‘Kooyong Votes Yes’ t-shirt.
We love a campaign t-shirt.

A Historic Day For Democracy
The big news from the past two weeks is that the National Anti-Corruption Commission is now open for business.
It’s taken almost five years to get to this point, with the journey starting when Independent Cathy McGowan introduced her bill for a Federal Integrity Commission in 2018.
Without her, and her successor Helen Haines, we would not have the strong national integrity commission that is now in operation. The same goes for this community: we only got this integrity commission because hundreds of thousands of people like us stood up at the last Federal Election.

I hope you all take a moment to reflect on how you played a role in restoring trust and integrity in politics. There’s a long way to go, but we should bank the wins when they come. Thank you, and congratulations.
Scam Experts Come To Kooyong
Last week, over 200 Kooyong residents turned out to hear from the experts on how to avoid scams.

It was great to bring an expert into the community to inform us all about the risks for what was a sold-out session.
Sadly many members of our community have fallen victim to one of the increasingly sophisticated scams that bad players from inside and outside Australia are running in the country. I’m pushing the government to change the banking legislation to give us all better protection against these fraud schemes.
For anyone who missed out, send us an email and we’ll put you on the list for the next one — details coming soon.
What’s On With Mon
Join NDIS Minister Bill Shorten and myself for a community discussion about all things NDIS. The session will be available in person and on livestream.
