We did it.
Kooyong has spoken — and I’m honoured to be able to state (with certainty!) that I'll serve as your Independent Member for Kooyong in the 48th Parliament of Australia.
What we’ve achieved together is nothing short of extraordinary.
This was a campaign powered by people — not parties. A campaign built on integrity, courage, and a shared vision for a better community and a better country. Today, that vision has been realised.
We faced the full weight of the political establishment. Millions of dollars were poured into Kooyong by our opponents. The Liberal Party launched one of the most well-funded and determined campaigns in the country in its attempt to reclaim Kooyong - backed up by the coal and gas lobbies, by far-right groups which targeted our community with aggression and disinformation, and by conscripts from a religious group which denies its own members the right to vote - but which sent them out in the dozens to prepoll and polling booths.
But we didn’t flinch.
We organised, we mobilised — and we brought Kooyong along with us. Despite a tough redistribution, we secured a 2.4% swing towards us in newly added areas. And, in booths across ‘Old Kooyong’, we received more primary votes than any other candidate — and won 57.29% of the Election Day vote, marking a 3.23% increase on our primary from 2022.
Together, we:
- Knocked on over 55,000 doors.
- Put more than 2,300 corflutes on fences across the electorate.
- Came together - more than 2,000 volunteers stepped up to Keep Kooyong Independent.
- Fought for those final 200 votes — just like we said we would.
This victory belongs to every single person who played a part from September 2021 to Election Day 2025. Whether you've been with us from the beginning or joined in the final weeks, thank you.
To all the volunteers of Kooyong - to my electorate office team and campaign team - to my family and friends — thank you. And to the people of Kooyong: thank you for putting your trust in me once again.
I also want to acknowledge my fellow candidates — Amelia Hamer, Clive Crosby, and Jackie Carter — for putting themselves forward and standing for their values.
Australia is at a crossroads. We face a cost-of-living crisis, a housing shortage, increasing intergenerational inequality, and a climate emergency that demands more than incremental change. The Albanese Government now holds an increased majority — and it must show the courage to act. Our community will continue to hold it to account.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
