I have something to ask.
This morning I had a neighbour come to see me at prepoll voting in tears. Her husband has COVID, and has just realised that he won’t be able to vote on Saturday.
With Election Day less than three days away, it’s FULL ON in Kooyong and we need your help!
Six days out from the election and Team Mon is at Kooyong Base Camp preparing for our final ascent.
With the battle for Kooyong on a knife edge, Monique’s campaign is now attracting extensive national and local media coverage. And we are chopping wood and carrying water as fast as we can!
Need a little mid-week tonic on this chilly day? Well, here’s something to warm your cockles. Since we last wrote to you on Sunday morning, Monique’s campaign is flying high.
With only seven days left until early voting begins, Team Mon is in top gear.
HQ is jumping! In addition to the usual hectic activity of Monique and her campaign team, there is a steady stream of people dropping by to pick up t-shirts, make donations, and soak up the electric atmosphere of a community campaign that is still building momentum!
This Friday past, on a glorious late autumn morning, Monique attended the Australian Electoral Commission office in Camberwell for the formal Declaration of Nominations.
With most of the candidates gathered with members of their campaign teams, the atmosphere in the small room was heavy with nerves and anticipation. The AEC official read out the formal nominations – all 11 of them – and then proceeded to do the random draw for the order that names would appear on the ballot.
And we have lift off! Hawthorn Arts Centre was awash with teal and the atmosphere was electric as we officially launched Monique on her campaign to become Kooyong’s first community Independent.
